I'm almost ashamed to ask this question, since I used to have a Drywall Company but here goes.
As some of you know, we are getting the place fixed up to put on the Market and right now I am painting the interior walls. Everything is goind good except I have a thin hairline crack about 60" long that runs halfway across one wall in the bedroom. Of course, it is at the belly band where the tape is.
I don't think that paint will cover the crack but it very well may but before I paint, I wondered if anyone knew of a cosmetic fix for something like this???
There's no way that I can cut it back and retape it because it would show even more and I don't want to have to retexture the entire wall
Would glue or epoxy put on thin with a roller or paint brush work, maybe???
Anyhow, I wanted to see if anyone had tackled this kind of problem before I tried my attempts.
Hopefully this picture will show the crack sufficiently
Is the tape coming loose, or the mud cracking? if the tape is coming loose, just filling the crack won't fix it,, the moisture from showering probably caused this, not enough mud under the tape,, you will need to get some mud under the edge of the tape, if this isn't the case, go to next idea,,
You might be able to take some caulking and fill the crack. then wipe it down with a DAMP rag, so as to only leave the caulk in the crack and not the surrounding area,, They sell spray texture, in a can now, and you could probably touch up the texture with that ,,, OR use a OLD [or the WIFFs tooth brush] to splatter some texture on it, it is splatter texture isn't it?

From the picture,, it looks like the texture could be rather heavy,,and was sprayed pretty wet,,,,[ thin texture] and the moisture has caused it to crack along the tape line,, Maybe just take some D/W[ unthinned] mud on a rag and dob it into the crack,, let dry and if it comes back, dob in some more, untill it disapears, at least you are repairing it with a like materal,, then touch it wp with a little splatter, AND LOTS OF PAINT,,,
I bet what caused it ,, was ,, the mud wasn't completely dry under the tape when they textured it, and it shrunk when it finally did dry out

I wiped some elmers glue along the crack and then wiped spackle (aka D/w mud) in it and after painting it - - - it shows worst than if I'd left it alone - - LMAO I think you are right about the mud not being dry because the crack is a perfectly straight line.
Gonna finish up painting the last wall in a second and then take another look at the crack that I ?????fixed????? I may have to sand it down and then hand texture it back to normal but we'll see.

It was the elmers that screwed it up, paint won't stick to that stuff, get a big ole mouthfull of texture and sputter it all over, just don't swallow, or inhale,
Hang a BIG nude picture over it, male or female, your choice,, playboy wall paper maybe?

In the bathroom I just remodeled, where I taped the sheetrock to the wonderboard below it,,where the tile stops,, the tape had lifted a little ,,[or had a hump in it] I just skimmed it with fast set compound,, and it worked ,, but there isn't any texture on the walls,, just painted with a long nap roller and latex paint,,
