Any Suggestions?????

Geezer says that I have too many colors on the house, and he has left it up to me to decide what colors to paint it.  I was wondering if anyone that has seen the picture of the house could suggest a color scheme.  I have never had to paint a house, and I am having a hard time deciding on color.  Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. All the old houses that look like this are mostly white, but I don't think I want plain old white.

I deal with color everyday in what I do and I find it's a very personal thing. Your house, just because of it's custom design, makes a statement. Therefore your color choices will also make a statement and it had better be something that you want to say. biggrin Have you ever tried any of the depiction software that's available? It's pretty cool, you upload a pic of your own and then try different colors on for size. There's online ones available too. If my wife was here she'd know right off the bat what site(s) to go to...but she's not so yer stuck with me. I know it was a paint company, possibly Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams. She drove me nuts lookin' at 50,000 colors for our walls. It was cheaper than repainting, though.

For the record, I like the white. For me, a house that's big and has so many angles white is the one. My wife always says that I'm boring, though. hmm

All white sounds kind of boring but I once saw a picture of some famous person's estate; every building was done in all white, including the metal roofs. It was a super clean look.
We did our place all white about 8 years ago, and I still like it.

I think the fact that your house has a unique style with lots of architectural elements and different roof lines I think I would tend to keep the paint job simple.

A good why to get a color idea is to drive around new subdivisions and look for something that catches you eye.

The thing about color, is no matter what you choose, there will be someone that doesn't like it.

Thanks for all your reponses, I am really considering a shade of white. I plan to do something eye catching with the trim and decor.

Some one else that drove by and stopped(happens all the time) mentioned that it looked like it was from the New England area.  I am still undecided. White with colorful trim is a big possiblity.

Whenever someone is having trouble deciding on a color I always advise them to go take a look at the clothes in their closet to see what colors dominate their wardrobe because the dominate colors there are ones that they will be comfortable living with in and on their home.

Having said that, whenever I look at that picture of your house I think of the coast so I'd be inclined to go with a beachy sort of theme. Perhaps white for the body and a weathered blue for some of the trim.

Thanks Peg,
That is a great idea. I have changed my mind once again and I am leaning toward white for the body. I'll give my closet a look see for the trim.
