Gutters

I hope I'm in the right place with this one. It's rain gutters...I wanted the seamless, but got impatient. The guy couldn't come for quite a while and I needed to have gutters. So I went to Home Hardware and bought the snap together vinyl ones. Installed them myself and I know it was all tight and good...they even worked properly. Here we are in the midst of spring and just about every friggin' joint is leaking. evileye If I spray some kind of stop leak product will it cure this? We plan on selling but I don't want the new owner to have this issue next spring. I don't want to take it down and get the seamless guy and waste what I've got either. Any suggestions? hmm

My experience with those plastic gutters, is that they are crap.........They expand and contract and start to leak.......Some have rubber gaskets that are supposed to move when they expand....Foes yours have this?

Yep...they've got the gaskets and they are crap. To run seamless will cost about $1,000.00. I have to keep in mind that we are selling and I just don't think that I'll get my money back outta gutters. I also agree that it's the expansion doing it...no doubt. I'll caulk it, grease it, or spray it, but I'm not replacin' them. I don't remember exactly but I think I have $3-400 into these ones, I'm not throwin' that away. I'll wait for the seamless guy on the next house.

Silicone caulking will only be a temporary fix.

I think vinyl expands at the rate of somewhere around 0.34" in a 10'-0" length with a 100 F change in temperature.

Not sure why they even sell the stuff for gutters.

Yeah, It burns me 'cause I friggin' knew better than to waste my time, effort and money on the stuff. evileye I should get one of those seamless gutter makin' machines 'cause the one guy that does that here is booked forever. idea Just the new construction keeps him goin' steady, so renos wait and wait and wait.
