Cool pics, CO, we have a few around here but not like we had in the Hill Country west of Lampasas.  There was a mercury light behind the house in the 6 acre pasture where the previous owners had a trailer hookup at one time and I put a deer feeder right next to the mercury light.  We got to see some real nice bucks, does, fawns and turkeys.  We even had a fox and a big feral tomcat that would come to the dry cat food that I put out and eat together - - - what a site.

Yessir. That would be a sight Mello...very cool. I've never put a feeder out, they just graze on through every day. That's pretty cool, you fellas movin' 'em closer and closer. aww The coyotes are on the rise here again. evileye I hate those skanky things! There's a small farm that I can see from my back step...it would only be a 5 minute waddle from here...I can hear those scuzzy buggers yelpin' an' howlin' when I'm out for a smoke late at night. It sounds like there's 8 or more of them. That farmer has some cattle with calves and some sheep out in the pasture...I wonder how many he loses a week, must be a lot. no
The fella that lives across the street from me hunts coyotes and has been gettin' a lot lately. clap.gif The back of his pickup has been constantly full since early fall. Because of them breedin' with stray dogs they're gettin' pretty big too...many are 75 lbs and some even more. eyepopping.gif

Pack animals are hard to control once they get the taste of lambs and calves - - - for some reason the occasional rabbit or other small critter doesn't satisfy them after that.  They really have to keep them under control in West Texas and the trappers use an explosive type trap which seems a little inhumane to me but I can also relate to the Rancher's loss and desire to get rid of them completely.  Gotta be careful about eliminating "ANY" species and breaking the cycle and chain of Mother Nature.no

Back to the deer subject - - - there is a little yearling deer that was orphaned in the spring/summer and she/he? adopted a black angus cow that ranges with a small herd right next to the road on the way to Buffalo - - - - I keep forgetting to take the digital and this morning would have been perfect because they were't 50 yds off the road.  Maybe I can get a pic and post it here later this week.

That's so cool that animals do that adoption thing. It's amazing really. aww I hope ya get that pic 'cause it would really be nice to see. One of those warm-n-fuzzy things.   laughing.gif

I agree with ya, Mello, about disruptin' the natural circle of life...or whtever ya wanna call it. hmm The crappy part of the coyote situation is the fact that they weren't native to Nova Scotia. weirdface.gifWhooops!! disbelief  Back in the '60's a Swedish pulp company came along and built a mill and offered lotsa high payin' jobs here. They got all sortsa incentives and deals including the harvesting rights to gooberment (to use Mello's word) land. I'm gettin' off course here ashamed...anyway, they imported coyotes to control the porcupine population. jawdrop.gif 'Cause porcupines can/will/have ruined many acres of woodland. Needless to say (but I will anyway) the coyotes have eaten everything but porcupines. evileye Dumbasses disbelief

LOL, they did the same thing in Lake Livingston witha Hydryla eating Carp and now they still have Hydryla and lots of Carp that provide nothing to the habitat.

We used to get deer but that stopped when the development next door put up a fence. The deer liked our apples. Now with the pond at the bottom we get ducks and geese. I've got to get a crossbow.
