photovoltaic shingles

I heard of this product from a college age friend of my son's. Shingles that also provide electric power. We were just bsing, so I didn't get ant details. I suppose the point is to have solar "panels" on the roof, but keep the look of shingles. Anybody ever hear of such a thing?

Sounds like a likely product,, but I haven't ever heard of them,, but there's a lot of things I have never heard of,no

I just wonder how they would link all the shingles together, to act as one huge solar panel..
but these days , I wouldn't be surprised at any new technology they cone up with,, its a mad race for alternate energy technology,

EDIT<<<<<<< just a quick search,, I came up with this site

http://www.oksolar.com/roof/

Thanks Mello. i've been hangin' around for a while, I just usually don't have much useful stuff to post. I'm on a board at my son's former high school, and we're going to re-roof the "Booster shed". The building serves as the meeting room and the concession stand at the football field. I usually come up with the odd ways to save cash. Probably not cost effective, but since i've been off work for 3 months, I spend a lot of time on the 'puter.
