Stopping Bleed Thru ?

I've almost gotten the bathroom painted except for the large floor to ceiling storage cabinets and there are a couple of spots that have some kind of bleed thru on them.

LAST YEAR, when I was painting the trim on the bath tile project, I randomly painted over them with oil base enamel to see what would happen and, as you can see in the pics, they bled thru again.

I have already bought the paint and was wondering if there is anything that I can put on these spots to prevent the bled thru from happening again???

I'm using ColorPlace Latex Enamel Semi Gloss wall and trim paint.

I'm thinking you need to put a latex primer on there 1st....That should seal it up.

Mello you need BIN. Plain and simple and I guarantee it. It absolutely does work. It comes in cans the same as paint, is available in the paint department of supply stores all over. Ya brush this stuff on and nuthin' will come through...nuthin'. I've successfully used it for pine knots, for water stains and even for burned wood. Honestly...burned wood and the char did not bleed through. It's also used to encapsulate odor after a fire...they used it here and it even worked for that! thumbsup.gif It is one product that I don't mind recommending to folks 'cause it actually does more than it claims.

EDIT>>Well hot-damn! I just noticed Rat's link and checked it out...BIN is also a Zinsser product. aww

Hunnnm! I know that varnish works for bleed through but this zinsco stuff is latex based, and really works, I think I would seal the whole wall,, not just the spots,,

I used this stuff over some old oil based paint that had been applied over latex, and had started peeling off, sanded off what I could and applied the sealer,,and a coat of latex paint and it stuck like crazy,

Water stains are usually taken care of with an undercoat of OIL BASED PRIMER. If that doesn't cover the stain, try an ALCOHOL based primer. Latex does not typically cover water stains since water is the carrying agent in latex paints/primers. Oil based primer uses mineral spirits as a carrying agent and Alcohol primer uses Denatured Alcohol.
