Purchasing the right Laminate Hardwood Flooring !

Sometime in the next couple of months, I plan on tearing up the "FUGLY" carpeting that we have in the Living Room and Dining Room with Laminated Hardwood Flooring so I've started browsing the net for different types, qualities and prices.

I ?think? that I want the free floating interlocking flooring with the underlayment built in but I'm really haven't decided yet.

The prices really vary on this stuff and I'm positive that I don't want to go with the bottom of the line cheapest but all to often the most expensive is not always the best choice.  The ones that I have looked at in Lowe's website are running from $29+ to $89+ and up into the $100+ price range for around 22 sf per unit.  I also noticed that the warrenties really vary with the price - - - "DUH" - - -  some as low as 5 years and some up to 25 years.

My square footage is around 387 so I should be able to buy the materials for less than $2000 I think?

When you are on a fixed income, price does matter but, like I said, it isn't everything !

Anyone got any experience, good or bad, with this stuff?

ANY and ALL comments will be greatly appreciated !

TIA,
Meller

I did a room 2 1/2 years ago....It was $32/box, which I guess is the cheap stuff.........Looks like hardwood floor......but, you can tell its not if you look close.....It is my wifes computer room and her office chair is on it.....The chair has not left a mark in it so far......I would use it again.

cowtwo.gif"bull snot"cowtwo.gif eh????

that's a good point, especially with Sherry Belle and her winter footie things that she wears.  Probably wouldn't be a problem with me cause I'm either barefooted or wearing boots - - - which go on right after my socks - - - LOL
