Mello probably lets mouth overload "tush"???

Well, GANG, for the last 2 days I have been on my hands and knees most of the daylight hours (NO I wasn't Begging no) tearing up the carpet, foam pad, stretching strips and baseboard moulding in the living room and dining room !

My oldest son has laid that laminated hardwood flooring before and he convinced me into picking up the materials and letting him come up early one weekend and help me put it down.  Granted, it will save us about a $1000 or more and he swears we can do both rooms in a full day or damned close.

So far we haven't had to have any outside help and have managed to stack the furniture in a couple of extra rooms until we are finished putting the floor down.  I've even hauled 1/2 of the carpet, pad, stretching strips and moulding to the dump on Saturday morning and I'll haul the rest (see pic) on Wednesday.

I did manage to get the dining room painted also and now I need to find out what the Wiffy wants and pick up the materials !

I figured the worst when I first started moving furniture and pulling baseboards but I was surprised and "SO FAR", only sore knuckle joints on my right hand has caused me to take a Advil or two during the night - - - Priase God worship.gif

The carpet was so "cheap quality" that it was nothing to cut into smaller pieces with my trusty antique Stanley drywall knife and roll up into manageable rolls .

By having plenty of time and going VERY SLOWLY, I think we will SURVIVE this in pretty good shape - - - - both physical and final looks and outcome. pray.gif

1st of all Amigo.. I'm glad to hear you are  feeling well enough to tackle this job full on.. and 2nd,, this is exactly what I am gonna have to do.. the den carpet is about 12 Y/O and needs replacing,  and I don't want anymore carpet,, so we will replace with the laminate stuff..
my oldest son did his whole house, and will hopefully help me do mine ( havn't asked him yet ),,

Getting the furniture out will be kinda easy,, the back patio is right through some big slider doors,,

Post up some pictures when you can,,

Went to Conroe (90 miles) to Lowes today and ran into someone in the flooring department that had put this flooring that we like in two bedrooms 2 years ago and he was back looking for more to put in some other rooms.  He should have been a rep - - - LOL  While we were talking to him he told us that Sam's Department store had it cheaper right next door so we went to Sam's and joined up and bought 27 boxes.  They loaded them in our little Rav 4 and then when we got home, two hours later, I unloaded them.   Now I'll spend a couple of days reading the instructions and staring at them.

This stuff is labeled "Traditional Living" Lock n Seal Technology  NATURAL BRAZILIAN CHERRY (Made in Canadaw00t.gif) 8mm thick with 17.62 square feet to the box.  It also has the moisture backing which is a thin rubberlike layer on back (see pic) and it seems to be pretty durable also.  I screwed up and started laying some yesterday and remembered that it is supposed to sit in your location for 72 hours before installing for humidity adjustment "oh well, OOPS" - I only got 11 pieces down and then stopped.  I'll start back tomorrow afternoon.

Thats nice lookin stuff,, The stuff at costco has the backing also,,
I googled this stuff from Costco, and found out it is made by Quick step flooring,, name changed to Heritage for Costco sales

Lots of comments about this stuff  that if you don't buy MATCHING accessories, like filler strips, stair bull nose, transition pieces, base board, etc( which Costco doesn't carry) that other manufacturers stuff doesn't match so well (color and grain)

I like the price but think I will look around some more,,
The room is just 350 S/F

it must be free floating.. and not attached to the underlayment? or old floor

remembering you didn't leave it sit long enough, so stopped work,,, is a old favorite of mine, works every time

Mine is free-floating and should have at least a 1/4 inch expansion gap around all sides but I'll have to cut it tight at the french doors on front and back and glue down a threshold going onto the kitchen linoleum floor.

Thanks, Mego, I should finish putting down all the flooring tomorrow unless I have to take the Yota to Madisonville for maintenance !

Those free floating pieces that you have to hold down and drive together are a "Beach"

Got the routine maintenance done today and while I while we were ther, I had some numbness show up in my hands and arms and later some mouth and lips acted a little strange several times during the day.   On the way home my thoughts failed me a couple of times.  Hopeully the doplers of my neck will let me know whats happening.

Looks like the flooring might have to wait a couple of days.

I repeat that statement,, take it easy mego,,
Have anymore of them maters up and disappeared,

Mine are getting huge,, those Cherokee Purples are as big as a softball.. the tag says they will get to over a pound each, and the plants grow to over 6ft high,

I found 3 or 4 other varieties of the purple Maters,, all are doing great..

I'll get some pictures posted, maybe tomorrow.

gotta go tend to my pot of stew, that's just about ready to devour,, got the munchies big timebiggrin

Oldest Son came up today and brought a friend's pneumatic 2" brad nailer and once we got it figured out it went pretty fast.  Just a little spackling and a couple of small corner pieces and it's finished.

'maters - I think I have 'em 3 meals a day. Grape size for breakfast, Big Boys for lunch and somthing else at supper. And they just started. Cukes are good, Peppers are coming, though the summer squash isn't happening, phew (don't like anything with the word 'squash' in it)

Pass them Squashes and Zucc's right on down Texas way.  I like them everyway but especially in K-bobs over some Mesquite coals suggled up next to some penner, onions, pineapple, cubed tenderloin and new taters !
