Closet foor from the 70s.. Help

My track on my closet door needs to be repaired. The previous resident jerry rigged the track to work, but the jerry rigging has some to an end. Any ideas? My initial thought is to just bring the track to Home Hepot and find something similar.

welcome to the forum.....Probably replacing it would be your best bet.......The hardware that attaches the door may also be worn,

Thats a bypass door, were popular many years ago,, but you should still be able to find that hardware at most any decent hardware store,, Lowe,s home depot,, or most likely at a Ace hardware,, they usually cary that older stuff.

we have a real good Ace store here that has lots of the old door hardware,, I'll take a look and see what they have,, how wide is the opening?

Oh Yeah !!!!!!!!!!!  Welcome to the handyman show,,,

If you don't mind, please give us a follow up when you finish just in case someone may need it later.

Thank you... I'll be sure to post results and pictures... I was going to do this anyway because otherwise I wouldn't have much to add to a handyman forum.. I'm not handy whatsoever (more of a techy/ gadget person), so posting results is the only value add that I have.. Otherwise, I'll just be posting when I need help, or posting short posts like, "you should replace it"...

Bad Rat, so if I told you that you should just replace your computer and that's all I said you would be fine with that? If you told me what the OS was, the issue, ect,ect... And I followed up with "replace it"... That would be sufficient? And Im not worried about my creditability on this forum I

Actually I am a self taught puter guy,, just a time wasting gadget as far as I'm concerned I try to figure things out for myself ,, I gladly   take advice and suggestions from someone much smarter than me, but if someone told me to replace it, I would look elsewhere for more info,, then maybe replace it

I'm glad the suggestions I gave you were what you needed, and helped you with your problem,, I did work construction for nearly 50 years,, puters? maybe 2,, but when anyone gives me any kind of suggestions for something,, I certainly don't come back with some smart ass remark like you did, whether I liked the comment or not,,,

sure sorry everything got off on the wrong foot for you here.. but no harm done,, its all clear sailing now.. so make your self at home and get aqquanted, you might just find out we aren't so bad after all

where are you located?  I live In Oregon, Portland to be exact.. you won't find a more beautiful state anywhere,,   AGAIN <<>>  WELCOME TO THE HANDYMAN SHOW<< WE"RE HERE TO HELP

So Home Depot got the part in on Thursday, I picked up it last night and installed it this morning. It was pretty easy, took about 20 minutes. I  need to put some WD40 on the wheels tonight.. The doors are SUPER heavy, so it would be nice if they were a little easier to slide.
