Window putty vs caulking (or similar)?

You can buy all sorts of stuff for exterior use, such as caulking, in the traditional tube.  To me, that stuff looks easier to use than conventional window putty.

So is there any real reason to use traditional glazier's putty over newer stuff made for exterior use?

As for me I have always been partial to DAP products and pretty much us them exclusively.

Maybe some others here have some different ideas.

that old glazin compound is used to fix glass into frames.not as a caulk.its dang near a thing of the past but we still need it at times.them tubes are good for sealin cracks but dont buy the cheapest one you can find.its not very good and shrinks fast.like mello said, dap makes good stuff.

born with nothin....still got most of it...
