Fireworks in the Kitchen?? and in June ??

Decided to use the Broiler in my Electric Range Oven yesterday to do some Shrimp Poppers but when I turned it on the Oven it lit up like the Fourth of July.  Didn't have to do much trouble shooting after that because I had a good feeling just what it was.  Well with the help of some liquid gel Advil to get my body to contort so that I could remove 6 hex-headed screws then all that was left was to figure out how to get a replacement Element.  I got online and after about an hour of Googling I found out what part I needed and ordered it from PartSelect.com for a little over $50 delivered to my front door.  So if they are reputable and send me the right part, I should be back in business in 3-5 working days.

That's an attention getter!!  Even when I was young and flexible, I hated oven elements.

Element arrived in good condition and that's more than I can say for my back, neck and shoulders after installing it ! no  But it is in and ?appears? to be working fine.  It did smoke a little from being new I imagine but then quit.

In case any of you are interested I ordered the element online from PartSelect.com and I am very pleased with their service.  They even have the information for finding your part if you don't have the part number.

Time for a cold beer and "some" Advil or maybe "some" cold beer and a Advil

Glad it's fixed to your satisfaction, Mello, it's rough bein' shy an important tool like the oven.  That smoke you mentioned is the preservative oil that is put on them during manufacture to keep stuff like solder and ceramic material from sticking to the outside of the element, and to prevent corrosion until it's put into service.
