Vanishing Curb Appeal !

The Wiffy watches HGTV all the time and, now that we have the place on the Market, I am constantly being reminded of "Curb Appeal".  Therefore I have made a valiant effort to keep the outside as neat as physically possible, including the ROW ditch along the highway in front of the property.

Well I was doing pretty good and had it to where my little riding mower and myself could keep it halfway decent looking.  That is until the sub contractor that cleans the limbs from the Power Lines came thru and left many large piles of limbs, leaves and even larger branches piled up against the fences. (go figure what they piled them there?)

Anyhow, instead of a couple of "wets" and a chipper they sent "Jose" with tractor and ?Brush Hog? to shred and clear the many piles.  This was entirely the WRONG TOOL for the job and now I can't mow the ditch until I do some dirt work -  GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR  Sure hope their tractor doesn't lose all the air in the tires while sitting by the road one night.

Me fru beachin' now biggrin

For sure the power company would get a calm, cool and collected call from me with a promise to escalate if they didn't send a crew to repair the yard. They will probably tell you it's on their right of way, but then you need to explain that you take care of it and it adds value to your property which is on the market. Even my power company needed a minor nudge last year - a month after they dug up my yard to repair the gas line.

After the pleasant call - wait and see for a couple days and if nothing, a "nuke" in the form of you in their front door might get some response.

This is Ranch and Cowboy Country so they would probably laugh or hang up on me so I'll just get a rake and grubbing hoe and see what I can do so I can at least mow over it. evileye

You give up on a good fight to easy. I'm with Dave on this one,, what gives them the right to destroy property like that, makes no differance if its their right of way, Thats simply BS to tear up stuff and move on to the next one

Do you think they would let you get away with destroying it that way? Jose' don't care if you are trying to sell the place or not, he's most likely working piece work and wants to move on to the next job,,

you said the company was a sub contractor of the county, check and see if the county approves of this kind of crap,,or even knows they are doing this.

Yep - a simple phone call can often get some TLC from your utility.  Why should you again screw up your already screwed up back

All good point, Gents, and oddly enuff the subs were out there today and I hollered at them across the fence and pointed to the torn up area.  Of course they were all Hispanic and they use that to their advantage when they don't want to talk to you BUT the ?head wet? nodded his in a YES jesture and jabbered something so maybe he'll get some of them to level it with at couple of rakes before they leave the area.  We will see ????
