Are all new washing machines just junk..?????

Less than two years ago bought the wife a really "PRETTY" nice new appliances..Whirlpool Cabriowasher and drier..less than 2 years old a couple months ago the drum bearings were so loud in the washer the dog would hide when it went into a high spin, bought a bearing kit and replaced the bearings and seals...pretty simple job took about 2 hrs start to finish..worked great and sounded like new..now two months down the roard and that nice pretty looking glas top has a frame around it about as thick as a tie strap and the left rear of that tie strap frame has broken where the hine pin attaches..I did a quick apoxy/JB weld repair to on Sunday and let it sit reinstalled the door last night so hopefully it will work for a week or two till I commit suicide..They want around $250 for a new top unable to buy just the frame..I am about fed up with the all the junk..hell a washing machine used to last 15 years or better now they cost 3 times as much to last 1/4 the time.. I don't want to spend any more money on this whirlpool piece of rodents ass..I have been trying to do a little research on just who the hell does make a decent machine any more so far my research has led me to discover that whirlpool owns about 60% of the brands on the market..Maytag, kenmore, Amana, and several others so they all have the same junk running gear..Can anybody tell me if they have any real knowledge of just who if anybody makes a decent washing machine..Just not interested in a front loader..I have a couple nieghbours that have had really bad mold issues with them So I want a top loader HE for my good little woman so I can get back outside doing guy things..like raking the lawn and cleaning the yard...I just  am unable able to find a quality washing machine to buy..The ratings they use are just crap as most them have only had there machine for less than 6 months that type of rating is useless and missleading and only favors manufacturers ..anybody have any inside information..I have spent hrs trying to reach a conclusion..Sure is a lot of junk out there to choose from...Thank you chuk

Chuck,
I think no matter what brand you go with, they are all disposible.

I recently bought LG top load model WT5170HV along with the dryer Model: DLEX5170V . Not a cheap pair at all.
I do hope that they will last me at least 7yrs.

The last pair that I had "Inglis" lasted me almost 13yrs.

I do not like the front loaders for one reason, can not add to it one it starts to fill.

Welcome to the world of throwaway large appliances!! We have a GE - does the wash well, but the spin cycle leave a lot to be desired. It was just 2-3 months out of warranty when the $150 control switch crapped out. Yeah, it is low end and purchased when we were planning to move. The wife is making noises like dollar bills rustling together (thankfully not loonies cllanking). We just got a new, Korean owned, Mexican made, USA sold Samsung reefer, replacing the still running 1994 Kitchen Aid - and only about 2.5x more expensive and really hope it lasts. Whirlpool have gone to h3ll according to most reviews. Then GE - I'm elligible for an employee rebate and will no longer buy their current crop of large appliances, though their gas stoves are well reviewed supposed to be the best.

Somewhere here I too have a thread moaning about sudden appliance deaths as well !!!!

I sure regret not buying the extended warranty on these pieces of chit..I just don't want to spend $2gs on another set for two more years..Whirlpool will not eevn respond to any inquirys for any help ...what an ******* of a company..I will never own another fking product that their name attached to it..I know I can keep fixing it but after spending 2grand for this garbage and now my poor wife is going to get a plywood top on this piece of **** ..Just looking to find a company that that makes a decent appliance and will stand behind it or beside it or what-ever Although my wife looks terribly dissapointed when I tell her I am just going to find a used set of older models from the local penny-saver, kijiji, craigs list..I an't gonna give those dick-heads another 2gs this ain't my first rodeo/ washing machinf junk I will never understand a company that that does not give a rats ass obout it's company or reputation..Boy I am pissed..

Thats very obvious,, and well you should and have every right to be Pissed,  BUT what the hell can you do about it?" NOTHING, the Manf's seem to have a good  grasps on the length of time their crappy product will last and warranty it for just under that time period,,,, We spent over 9K $ on all new applances about 10 years ago,, BUT they didn't get installed, ( as needed) untill the remodel was finished, about 5 Yrs ago,, We bought them all at Sears,( Kenmore, I don't know who actually makes them) but so far ( fingers crossed) they have survived a lot of use,, all  are  commercial rated (good selling phrase)

Maybe its time for us to go back to the old  days and find a old ringer type washing machine and a couple of wash tubs and get- er- don like my Momma use ta do,

I found a old maytag ringer washing machine,, that we put ice in the tub and use as a cooler in the summer,, and it actually still runs and works,, but it also has  MADE IN AMERICA tag on it

Keep a watch on your Blood pressure, fatchukbiggrin

Kenmore = Elecrolux parent company to Fridgidaire, Chef, Juno, Kelvinator, AEG

Kenmore = Whirlpool parent company to Maytag, KitchenAaid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht, Gladiator

It's kind of ironic to me with all the skills bells and whistles we have to-day..I am an automotive tech/Mechanic but everybody does not want to be called a mechanic to-day to degrading ????? or something.. anyway my point is they make cars trucks way better today than did even 20 years ago ..yes we have more plastic,  more bells and whistles that we know how to operate in some of them , yes the metal is thinner than the 30s cars but they have learned how to do magic with, engine management, transmissions, hell you can buy a new car and drive it for 100,000 ks and just change the oil or not..no more v-belts to wear out water pumps or alt bearings.. fuel injection has eliminated starters with no more flooded engines or need to crank it till the starter windings are melted, exhausts are stainless and outlast the car ...but for some reason these moraly bankrupt a$$holes cant build a god-dam washing machine to wash your clothes..WTF is with that ..My wife says it's not fair of me to expect her to go down to the creek and wash the clothes on a rock ..so I told her it's either that or just climb in that old (2year-old whirlpool and take it for spin)..That didn't go over well..looks like I'm sleeping on the couchterfield choking my chicken for a few nights till  I do more than buy her a wash board and wringer machine..Damn I am so peod about this ..then on a side note I read the paper to-day for the auditor generals report on how much money that dip**** mcDick-head spent on that gas plant fiasco to save a few liberal seats ..the fine print  that bill is being added to your monthly hydro bill to be paid over the next 20 years..Definitley not a happy moment to-day..ARRGGGG!!!!  coulda bought the whole damn whirlpool factory so I could fire the whole lot of them starting at the top..like to pack all those liberal and send them halfway to Iran..end of rant..

Sears used to be very reputable but it sounds like all of them are flaky these days.
