Iffin' ya can't smoke it or eat it, don't grow it !

Well, that has been my attitude towards planting things for a long time but, unfortunbately it's not the Wiffy's way of thinking.

When we lived in Lampasas I really enjoyed planting flowers and veggies and since we had a glassed in sun porch I was able to keep the plants going year round.  However, when we moved to Buffalo that kinda slowed down and here in Yuppieville it's ?almost? non-existant - - - up until now that is.

I let a lot of stuff get killed by the winter weather and neglect and I'm blaming that on my Retina crap (and I'm sticking to it)  However, Sherry wants me to clean up the growing areas outside and get them to looking tolerable again so I'm gonna ?TRY?

The front flower bed has several perinnials that have managed to survive in spite of me so I'm gonna start there.  I picked up an 8 pack of 4" Vincas (we always called them periwinkles) along with some black bark mulch and got them out this morning.  The tall gray shrubs on their right is sage and it blooms once a year with the greatest fragrance you could imagine.  I'm sure the old desert rat, Rrumbler Em(I), know of what I speak?

There are a few Verbenas from last year popping their heads up but they may not b e dominant enuff to mess with.

There's also a Verbena and some Airplane Plants that were in containers on the back deck that survived but not to any effort or care by MOI.

However, the corn plant that came from Mom's Funeral and the Mother In Law Tongue did not.

I"ve also put three hanging plants on the front porch, as always, and YES I need to prune my redtips but now I have to wait until after the color is gone.

This old Asparagus Fern needs some major CPR because it has been in that old wheel barrow for several years now.  I may have to cut it into several pieces and repot.

Forgive me for the boring post but I needed something to do while my Lasagna finished baking.

Have a great weekend, Y'all

Yep them women are real quick with suggestions . Sherryl saw a ad for cheap shelves at Bi Mart,, so we ran all over town ( 4 different bi mart stores) looking for the cheap shelves, finally found some, plastic POS they had one on display that was already broken,, the metal version was even worse,,, no

so I guess I will have to build them from scratch,,   we are running out of places to store crap,,, she don't throw anything away,,, My moto is if it don't fit a car, its junk,,,,,,biggrin

When we moved the last time I chunked lots of nice stuff in the Solid Waste Yard and when Sherry asks me where it is, I just grin and say "dunno"

Growing season and SUMMER has arrived in Tejas, Compadres. It is mego humid and steamy out there this morning and we still need rain, which they are predicting for this everning "yeah right".

Nevertheless, things are sure getting purdy if nothing else.

You can't see it in the above pics but under the Oleander on the far right there is a wild Lantana bush already starting to bloom and this sure seems early to me but maybe not???

Don't know if this pic will show them or not but this little peach tree is loaded with peaches this year. They aren't very large peaches when mature but they certainly taste as good as the bigg'uns.

I managed to mow the back and side yard this morning but if it keeps getting hotter I may have to get me a miner's headlight and mow at night.biggrin
