Knick knack shelf from scraps of Fir from work


image.jpgI made this 16" by 16" by 2 5/8" shelf unit from a bunch of Fir cut offs free from work.  less than an hour in it, total.   Whatcha think?

 Before you hire me, I should probably add that I was directly responsible for at least one of those cut offs (I broke the extension jamb-- not on purpose though, I swear!!).  

 

All kidding aside, Thanks!  I've been in a bit of a "shop funk slump" lately, so it felt good to get this one done, especially in such quick order, with no real plan.  I just had an idea, and let the machines and material guide me.  Feels good to be back to a good rhythm!

 I wish I knew why or how exactly that happens.  I'm experimenting now to try and stop that rotation...

Maybe you're a 180 degrees off of plumb? That happens to me when the Wiffy goes on a tear so maybe the cat's got you by the plumb bob.

 Thanks geez!  I'm going to make a couple more of them-- we had more Fir windows, so more Fir scraps.  I'm thinking I'll try a different stain on each of them.
