Patriot Project

I've been wanting an Eagle of some kind and finally decided on a 17" tall statue that I liked and could afford.  His name is "Freddie Freedom".

At first I wanted to put him on the front porch rail between the Lone Star and Old Glory Flags but, after some disagreement and serious thinking, I decided to build something to display him on.  So I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a couple of interesting pieces and came up with a paint scheme and I was headed to the shop.

Hardest decision was how to mount him there so that he would not be likely to fall from his perch very easily.  After some Hardware Store browsing, I decided to use a single toggle bolt thru the base and into the bottom of the statue.  Except for having to hand ream the 3/8" hole to a 5/8", it went very well and now I have to figure out where to display him.  There's a nice empty wall on the front porch to the left of the front door and several locations inside the house.  I gave him 4 nice coats of Krylon before mounting him so he should withstand the elements pretty decently.

Thanks Amigo, as far as bringing him in goes, I think he'll be a 365 Eagle.  We have had other artsy stuff out there under the front porch cover and they weathered just fine.  He may end up as community property in the Divorce settlement, if things don't change about his location.
