Loose Wire (NO not me)

Hey Y'all, take a look at this pic, if you will, and see if any of you can help me.  The pic is of my Son's 65 Mustang Coil and Solenoid.  You will notice there is a wire on the right side post of the Coil that is just dangling in space.  There is also a bare post on the right front of the Solenoid and, by chance, it looks like they might belong together????? biggrin

If you need anymore info, just holler and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks as always,

Em(E)

Usually, that post on the solenoid is a ground....so I cant see it going to the coil.

Is the car working OK with the wire loose like that?...If so, I wouldnt bother with it.

You could take a tester and check if that post is live with the key on, key in crank position etc.

Someone may have had a tachometer hooked to that coil post.

As far as Ford solenoids - some have 3 and some have 4 posts. Like Harry said - if it starts and runs OK, fuggedabotit ..... unless you can find a full wiring diagram for that car and can run it down. My memory fog says that this was the generator change over era and in mid year to alternators (tho it may have been '64) so you do have to make sure you get the right diagram. Also, in 55 years with engine and other changes possible, all bets are 75/25 with the 75% incorrect being really ...90%confuse

I'm hearing that more and more these days from our friends. Seems like every couple has one tending the other on a too-often time frame. Buddies my own age and younger having triple, quad or more by-passes, heart attacks, strokes, Cancer, the list goes on. Even with the daily fall-out from my injury 9 years ago, I still feel fortunate. I'm verticle and ventilating, my wife's health also reasonably good. Our kids are healthy, happy and with good partners. First grand-daughter a month and a half old, life is good. ( glass half FULL) because half empty is simply not an option. Not when I see what others sometimes live with. Stay well bud.
